Making Tax Digital (MTD) was introduced on 1st April 2019 to modernise the taxation system through the use of advanced technology and systems. Currently, MTD applies to VAT-registered businesses, regardless of whether their taxable turnover is below or above £85,000. Affected businesses must maintain digital VAT records and submit VAT returns using software that complies with the MTD initiative.

It doesn’t sound like MTD applies to me yet. When should I expect to be affected?
In April 2024, MTD compliance will become compulsory for self-employed businesses and landlords who have an annual business or property income exceeding £10,000.
In 2026, Making Tax Digital will for Corporation Tax will be introduced
